Course FAQ
-
The course runs for 10 sessions of around 60-90 mins each. This can be run over one full school term, or taken slower, breaking each session up over two weeks, whatever pace suits you or your group!
-
Each session has three videos, a testimony video, a panel discussion and a short biblical teaching. Each session also has some reading or small group activities, to break up the session. All the material has been created for you, so you can just print it off and hit play on the videos and you're good to go!
-
What's Normal has been designed with videos and easy to use worksheets, so that anyone leading youth groups and students can quickly and easily run the program. Because of the discussion questions and the nature of the topics, it's always good to have facilitators on hand who can lead the groups and answer questions that come up. Ideally, having one facilitator for every 4-6 students is great. However, where this is not possible, larger group numbers still work and the course is easy to implement whether small groups or large.
-
Ideally, the curriculum is aimed at stage 5 & 6 in High Schools (Year 9-12). However, because of the statistics on the use of internet pornography, we are seeing an increased demand for this course in stage 4 (year 7 & 8) and in some situations, year 6 have been able to benefit from much of the material in the What's Normal course. We recommend making the decision on a case by case basis, assessing whether the material is age and stage appropriate in your individual context. Please reach out to the What's Normal team to discuss this further, if you need to.
